Let’s say I wanted to pick up a new mini-skill, like juggling.
How would I go about learning that?
I can think of three main options:
- Fully lean into knowledge first. Research techniques, practice routines, the right balls to get, and then decide a practice schedule, location etc. Then, equipped with all the knowledge, start putting it into practice.
- Fully lean into experience first. Grab random items and give juggling your best attempt based on the little you currently know. Practice this until you can do it decently well. Then, start watching videos of others doing it and compare that to how you’re currently doing it, and find their shortcuts and tactics.
- Use some sort of hybrid approach. Find one or two authoritative resources on the topic, and practice what they say. Then, decide what aspect is missing/weak that you want to learn next. Look for more specific resources, practice what they say. And so on.
